About Tracy
Tracy Byrd, the 2024 Minnesota Teacher of the Year, teaches English language arts at Minneapolis Washburn High School. He holds high standards for himself and for the people in his circle, and he believes deeply in his students’ ability to persevere through adversity while showing humility.
Tracy leads with questions and a curious nature to understand every situation fully. His reverence for helping others shows in a coaching career of more than 25 years: he has coached high school football and now leads his school’s track and field program.
